Experiment 121: ‘The device was placed Feb. 20 and worked the same day; it exploded and probably detonated but the results -- as far as we could find out-- were not enough to satisfy us.’ This is a direct quote from Ted Kaczynski’s personal notes describing his initial thoughts regarding the effectiveness of the bomb that detonated when I picked it up. It’s hard for me to fathom that life or death, like all of the hand-made components he tested for his explosive devices, was also considered an experiment. During this talk I present evidence from the case and discuss my opinion on the impact that ‘Experiment 121’ had on me personally, how it affected those in my local community, the country at large, and what I believe the final results of the experiment portray.
